Because MWOS is a volunteer organization, and because substantial funds are needed to finance operettas of high calibre, the organization is in continual search of funding. Some of our funding comes from tickets sales but not enough to pay for the costume supplies, musical and stage directors, and musicians who are an integral part of our production. We are always on the lookout for people skilled in fund-raising, or people just willing to sell program ads or solicit donations to keep the phenomenal works of classical comic operetta, such as Gilbert and Sullivan, alive and a part of our community.
Any donation over $10.00 is tax deductible for which we would be happy to provide you with a receipt.
Strange Adventure CD
In our 1999-2000 season, a major milestone was achieved with the release of Montreal West Operatic Society’s first album, Strange Adventure. The title takes its name from the madrigal in The Yeoman of the Guard. It is the first studio recording ever to include musical numbers from every one of the fourteen Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. The CD was recorded over the weekend of October 31st Concordia Music Department Chair, Dr. Mark Corwin, serving as the producer and recording engineer.
The CD was released on January 19, 2000, at a gala launch held at Indigo Books in Montreal. The price is $18, plus postage and handling. Contact us for further details.
